Beginners guide to Cross-Stitch - My Progress so far

Last week, I began my first Cross-Stitch project, and this week we will be looking at the progress I have made.

I chose a relatively simple design to start with; "Fatal Error" with Biscuit the Cat, by Mouseloft
This design also felt very familiar to me, as I have experienced similar issues with our new kitten; Taffeta.

So let's see how I've been getting on.

My Second Session
Once I finished the overall cat shape, it was time to move onto another colour. I chose blue, and made a start on the computer screen.

When I finished the cat, I noticed that the bottom rows were stitched the other way around, which gave the appearance of a slightly different finish to the previous stitches. I was keen to avoid repeating this on the computer screen, so decided to start at the top of the screen and work my way down.

As the overall shape was a simple square/rectangle, it made sense to do one half of the stitch in one direction, and the other half of the stitch in the opposite direction. This meant that I was always starting the row from the left. This approach worked well for me, as when I'd finished the blue portion of the screen, all the stitches looked uniform.

More updates coming next week.....
