Gutermann Maraflex thread is an Elastic sewing thread with particularly high stretch designed to be used with most household sewing machines. Made using Micro Core Technology it is ideal for sewing around necklines, cuffs and other jersey fabrics and fabrics with elastane.

To be Sewn as a Needle & Bobbin thread whilst using as little thread tension as possible.
Optimal seam elasticity with 4 stitches/cm.

The thickness of this thread is measured at No./Tkt. 120
Recommended Needle : Jersey/Stretch Needle NM 70-80

Made out of 100% Polybutylene Terephthalate (PBT)

    This product is sold as a singular spool and will be placed within a gripseal pack when dispatched. When purchasing multiple spools these may be placed within the same bag.

I make a lot of stretch Dancewear and I must admit, I was a bit sceptical about this thread. But, after using it to make a leotard I can say that it is an excellent product! I can sew a leotard up really quickly without having to use fancy and time consuming stretch stitches, I just used a straight stitch. I tried to snap the seams afterwards by tugging hard but it holds fast. I will be ordering more - just hope that they will expand the colour range a bit more.

Guterman Maraflex… what a great product. As with all Guterman there is the high quality which really does make a difference to sewing. Maraflex has stretch for any kind of topstitching on stretch garments. Instead of finishing off with a zigzag or lightening stitch. It’s possible to just do a standard stitch but with stretch. So if you don’t own a cover stitch machine but like that single /double/ triple top stitch line then this is the product. Simply use as any other Guterman thread. ( I lengthen my stitch to 3.5 but that’s purely a choice)
