- Product Description
Sashiko is a type of traditional Japanese embroidery or stitching, used for the decorative or functional reinforcement of cloth and clothing.
Centuries ago the Japanese practised a running-stitch technique called "little stabs" to patch torn or worn fabric and clothes.
Traditionally Sashiko uses white embroidery thread on a dark navy cotton fabric.
Recreate the look with these templates and accessories, from Sew Easy.

Instructions
- Place the template on the right side of the fabric
- Trace the pattern, using a Washable Marking Pencil
- Prepare a length of thread and top stitch in the direction of the number sequence
Tension
It is important to keep an even tension at all times as tight stitching will increase puckering and loose stitching will not achieve required finish.
If there is a sharp curve in the design or a long line of straight stitches, make a small loop of thread at the back at intervals.
Finishing
At the end of a line of stitching, work back a few small stitches to secure the thread.
